 Discord Usability Heuristics

#1: Visibility of system status

Usability Rating: 2

When the user is making chances, a sign will pop up to let the user know that they are about to make a change. I like that Discord will give you easy access to your friends list and pending people. However, I do not like that private message groups will notify everyone that someone left the group. I would love to leave a dm group with grace and it not be announced to everyone.

#2: Match between system and the real world

Usability Rating: 0

#3: User control and freedom

Usability Rating: 0

Discord is very versatile. It is ranked one of my favorites app/website for the fact that is very customizable. It very personal for the reason that it gives the owner of a server dictatorial power. Owners can give permission to selective users and give them roles. Discord also have bots or mods that can be added into a server to make the server more appealing and thematic. It is also very organized. Multiple servers can become overwhelming but servers can be condensed into folders.

#4: Consistency and standards

Usability Rating: 0

#5: Error prevention

Usability Rating: 1

The error prevention is there, but I find it redundant to add two error message that repeats the same thing on the login screen.

#6: Recognition rather than recall

Usability Rating: 0

#7: Flexibility and efficiency of use

Usability Rating: 0

The overall design of discord is very basic in a good way. The structure makes it easy to navigate because I do no have to dig to find what I am looking for. Most material and solutions can be found in a less than a couple clicks.

#8: Aesthetic and minimalist design

Usability Rating: 0

Even for a site that is highly customizable, its default appearance is very clean and pleasing. User can create multiple servers and have numerous contents in those servers but never does it ever feel too crumped for me making this site one of my favorite when it comes to visual design.

#9: Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors

Usability Rating: 0

#10: Help and documentation

Usability Rating: 0
