Good:

Help Users Recognize, Diagnose, and Recover from Errors
A message was display helping me understand that I will not be able to register unless I resolved a holding
Error Prevention
The Message Center on the homepage will let me know that I have an unresolved holding.

A tutorial is given on how to register for classes



Bad:

Control and Freedom
Violation Rating: 2
The image preview in the registration tutorial is a bit obnoxious. It is highly sensitives and pops up automatically when the cursor touches it. The preview photo is huge too. The only way to exit the preview is by moving the cursor away until it is off the photo. 

 Recommendation: Let the user have the control of previewing the image. A point click mechanism may be better than a sensitivity trigger for the preview image. 

Flexibility and efficiency of use
Violation Rating: 2
The steps to drop a class is too convoluted. I had to go through multiple pages and then get approved by a registrar to drop. 

Recommendation:  The add/drop function should be on the main registration page instead of going through multiple pages to get to it. 
Consistency and Standards
Violation Rating: 1
The register tutorial is not completely formatted the same as MyMercer registration form.

Recommendation: Update the tutorial to suit the current MyMercer form.

  Discord Usability Heuristics #1: Visibility of system status Usability Rating: 2 When the user is making chances, a sign will pop up to let the user know that they are about to make a change. I like that Discord will give you easy access to your friends list and pending people. However, I do not like that private message groups will notify everyone that someone left the group. I would love to leave a dm group with grace and it not be announced to everyone.  #2: Match between system and the real world Usability Rating: 0 #3: User control and freedom Usability Rating: 0 Discord is very versatile.   Spotify Usability Heuristics #1: Visibility of system status Usability Rating: 2 Informs the user what action has been taken and the status of it.  Spotify will notify the user when a song has been added to the queue. However, there are some status such as song removal that it will not notify the user. This is a minor problem since it can cause confusion if the user is unsure if a song or the right one has been removed especially for a larger playlist. #2: Match between system and the real world Usability Rating: 0 Terminology that is common to the average person and is relevant.  The term Library used on Spotify will direct the user to their music collection- just as a library is a place with collection of books.
