 Sephora

Task: Purchase a makeup product

Good:
Flexibility and efficiency of use
Sephora menu page is very well organized. They have categories for each type of products and is laid out in a way that makes navigation easy. In addition, Sephora will let the user know if there is a product available at the selected store and if it offers next day delivery.

Bad:
User control and freedom
Rating: 2
When trying to view and compare two products, the product I am trying to compare will open up on the same page. This makes comparison a bit more difficult.

Error Prevention
Rating: 1
It does not tell me that I have added the same product into my cart.

Aesthetic and minimalist design
Rating: 1

The use of white space was fine until it got to the checkout section. The issue with Sephora's checkout page is there is not enough contrast in the container, so it made the information look too contained and cluttered.

Visibility of system status
Rating: 1

I have highlighted where it shows the system status, and it is very hard to see. (I highlighted where it was).

Improvement:
  • To make it easier for the customer to compare products, let the product be viewed side by side or by opening a new tab to the compared product.
  • A message or warning should be displayed for the user that the product has already been added
  • The checkout visual can look less cluttered by add more boldness and division to the content.
  • The visibility of system status needs to be more prominent. The visual should be improved to where the user recognizes it.
